Facts About Mexico

My summer holiday was fabulous. Before I went I did a little research and below I have listed some of my favourite facts I  discovered about the country I was visiting – Mexico!

1/ Mexico is the 14th largest country in the world.

2/ It is located in the “Ring of Fire,” one of the earth’s most violent earthquake and volcano zones

3/ Mexico City is built over the ruins of a great Aztec city, Tenochtitlán.

4/ The origins of modern Mexicans are from a mix of ancient civilizations, including the Olmec, Zapotec, Toltec, Maya, Aztec, Inca, African, French, and Spanish

5/ Spanish is the national language of Mexico.

6/ Mexico is second only to Brazil in the number of Catholic citizens

7/ Mexico’s national sport is bullfighting.

8/ Mexico introduced chocolate, corn, and chilies to the world. – THANK YOU!!!!!

9/ The first printing press in North America was used in Mexico City in 1539.

10/ Christmas presents are not exchanged until January 6, to celebrate the arrival of the Three Wise Men.

And finally its a brilliant place to go on holiday!
